Warsi and the foundations of societies

And she will say politicians "need to give faith a seat at the table in public life", saying "intolerant secularisation has to be held back by reaffirming the religious foundations on which our societies are built" .

I have no problem with anyone reaffirming religious foundations, as long at that re-affirmation meets certain requirements that should be expected in a fair society, which is that claims and disputes about foundations should be based on objective evidence.  The only way that fairness and equality can be ensured in a society is to allow reality to be judge, to make decisions based on what is true, not what is believed to be true.  There is no reason why religious claims should not be brought to the attention of goverments, just as long as they have to meet the same standards of proof as any other claims.

I'm not a militant secularist, but I am a militant reasonist, because the only way to ensure fairness is to rely on truth.  Not revealed truth, not tradition, not faith, but objective truth.
